About La Demanda Natural Park

 

La Demanda Natural Park is located in the mountainous region of the Sierra de la Demanda, spanning parts of the La Rioja and Burgos provinces. The park is characterized by rugged terrain with peaks reaching over 2,000 meters, deep valleys, and extensive mixed forests dominated by Scots pine, beech, and oak. This diverse landscape supports numerous wildlife species, including roe deer, wild boar, and a variety of birdlife such as griffon vultures. Historically, the area was used for traditional grazing and forestry, with some archeological evidence of ancient settlements nearby. Today, it offers outdoor enthusiasts numerous recreation opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife observation. The park’s trails reveal impressive geological formations, waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints like the summit of San Lorenzo, the highest peak in the range.
